Jul 23, 2020 · I am replacing electric range in an older house with a legacy 3-wire supply. Based on reading posts in this forum, I realize that I can enhance safety by upgrading to a 4-wire supply. One things I'm trying to sort out is: right now, the range is wired to a 50A breaker. However, the new range is rated for 40A.
