5) Get a fighter/archer thrall AND an animal ASAP. The figher/archer thralls will be good for exploring, and adventuring. (And getting NEW thralls). Animals on the other hand (even hyena/crocs etc) are great early game for gathering. They don't have an encumberance limit and have more INV spaces than thralls.
