Car won t start but lights come on

Twice now, I have gone to start my 2005 Prius (which has about 53,000 miles on it now) via my normal routine (i.e., foot on the brake while pushing the Start button). All the normal 'start-up' dash lights come on -- plus the big orange triangle light with the "!" -- but the engine doesn't actually turn on. Some of the lights blink.
