Please go play Classic. Retail had moved on from these shitty, time wasting mechanics for many years until the Altar of Decay. We don't want or need more of this garbage in the game, especially in an expansion that has been a ton of fun with lots to do.

Although they pose a threat to your colony if left alone, you can use them to your advantage. In this guide, we’ll be discussing the threats posed by an Altar of Decay and how you can convert it to reduce hostility during your campaign.
What the altar of decay does, is raise the hostility reduction of a villager death from an effective -15 (via impatience) to -35. Having 3 would put it at -75, so level 0 hostility makes quite a bit of sense. From completing them alone you'd be getting 3 impatience and 35+55+75 = 165 hostility reduction.
